FRENCH ARMY Service Shoes Deadstock

It’s been a while since our last update, but this time we’re excited to introduce a new arrival: deadstock French military service shoes, complete with their original boxes and available in a full range of sizes.

The shoes that have just arrived are service shoes made in France by HARDRIGE.

The names most often associated with French military service shoes are probably MARBOT and TORTORA. In fact, MARBOT was rebranded in Japan this year.

HARDRIGE is a long-established, highly regarded maker that produced John Lobb’s Cottage line. As the company has grown, however, it has moved its production to Portugal.

This batch of service shoes is deadstock from the 1990s, when they were still being made in France.

They are made using the Goodyear welt construction, with a dog-tail heel, giving them the build of proper dress shoes. And the uppers are made from box calf leather by Du Puy, the same tannery whose leather is used by some of the world’s leading fashion houses.

Given the company’s production history, HARDRIGE-made service shoes were thought not to exist. But a large batch of deadstock pairs has now turned up in a warehouse in France.

The last is nicely balanced, and the width is around D to E—just right for Japanese feet. The toe is slightly tapered, making them very easy to style. We honestly don’t think you’ll find service shoes with a higher level of finish than these.

The rubber outsoles make them suitable for all kinds of weather, so they’re a great fit for Japan’s climate, too.

These are exceptionally well-made shoes, and it’s rare to find footwear this wonderful at this price.

They’re a fantastic choice not only for anyone buying their first pair of leather shoes, but also for those looking for something new.

We invite you to come try them on in store.
